Dunlop announced the world premiere of its ultra high-performance summer tire SP QuattroMaxx, which with its sleek sidewall design by Pininfarina and excellent performance, has been specifically developed to suite powerful Sport Utility Vehicles. The new tire was on display at the Geneva Motor Show.
Prior to its launch the new tire was put through its paces on what is arguably one of the world’s most demanding tracks: the Nürburgring Nordschleife. A 550hp Porsche Cayenne Turbo equipped with brand new Dunlop SP QuattroMaxx tires and race driver Patrick Simon at the wheel, crossed the finishing line of the Nordschleife circuit of the Nürburgring in one of the fastest lap times ever set by an SUV: 8:33:99. This test confirms that the SP QuattroMaxx is a real ultra-high performance tire for every-day driving – in wet or dry weather conditions.
The new Dunlop SP QuattroMaxx features a very robust under-tread construction with ultra-stiff breakers. The Dual Tread Compound technology combines Dunlop’s best compound in dry conditions on the outside area of the tire with the best compound for wet conditions on the inside of the tire. The combination of these two compounds ensures outstanding lateral and longitudinal grip in all weather conditions, as well as optimized rolling resistance. The asymmetric tread design with a variable land to sea ratio provides improved aquaplaning resistance.
The new Dunlop SP QuattroMaxx will be available in sizes from 17 to 21 inches and in
widths from 235 to 315 for a wide range of well-known brands such as Audi, BMW, Lexus, Range Rover and Porsche.
