MERCEDES LAPV 6.X CONCEPT

Mercedes-Benz recently launched at Eurosatory 2010 Defence and Security World Exhibition in Paris its Light Armoured Patrol Vehicle 6.X and 7.X Concepts setting a new standard in this category.
Based on Mercedes G-Class wagon, the weight of the new concept compared to its predecessor LAPV 5.4 has been minimised to increase agility while still not compromising on protection and payload capacity. Running a high torque common rail diesel engine, the 6.X is capable of 150km/h speeds while being able to transport 1.3 tonnes of cargo.
The proven portal axles coupled with variable lift front and rear coil-over air shock absorbers which are adjustable while driving, help to lift the LAPV 6.X to an unprecedented 450mm of ground clearance and allow 50 degree of approach and 45 degree of departure angle for the best off-road capabilities as possible. The hydraulic braking system and four ventilated disc brakes coupled with individual tyre inflation system are also able to detect ground conditions and adjust accordingly for best traction.
The monocoque full steel body provides ballistic protection and the modular armour plate system allows damaged plates to be replaced quickly, and includes a mine deflector plate on the vehicles floor.
