On the occasion of the 20th commemorative year of
India-ASEAN relations, the 2nd edition of the ASEAN-India Car Rally will be
flagged-off from Yogjakarta Palace Square, Yogjakarta, Indonesia, on November
25, 2012. After the flag-off from Yogjakarta, the Rally will proceed to
Borobudur Temple, Megalang, Central Java and from there to Ngarsopuro,
Surakarta.
On November 26, 2012, the participants are expected to leave for Singapore. With a flag-off from Singapore on November 28, 2012, the Rally is proposed to pass through Ipoh, Hat Yai, Phuket, Chumphone, Bangkok, Siem Reap, Phnom Penh, Ho Chi Minh, Pakse, Savanakhet, Vientiene, Sukhothai, Hpa An, Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay, Ka Lay, Kohima and Guwahati. Having covered a distance of 7448 kms over 19 days, the Rally is expected to be flagged-down at Guwahati on December 17, 2012. It is being envisaged that the rallyists will be received in New Delhi for a ceremonial flag down on December 20, 2012, at the time of the special ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit. Mahindra, the leading Indian automobile company supply 30 units of the latest model XUV 500 for the rally. Each country will send two teams of four each and two cars each will be handed over to the participants in Singapore.
