BORNEO EQUATOR EXPEDITION 2009

It was the most extreme jungle travel since the last Camel Trophy organised many years ago on the mysterious island of Borneo. This adventurous journey started 2 years ago with the idea to cross Borneo along the Equator. The aim of organizers was to create a „once in a lifetime adventure“ expedition. Our main goal was to drive along the Equator and not divert from the line more than 1 degree above or below.

It started from Pontianak, West Borneo, traveled through Central Borneo and finished in Balikpapan, East Borneo, covering about 2030km, with participants from Asia, Europe, America and Australia. The mission of this expedition was not only to enjoy the once in a lifetime adventure, but to promote Indonesia as a tourist destination and a wonderful cultural diversity of this country. Building relationships, mutual trust and understanding between people from across the globe was also part of our mission.
