CHINESE CONTENDER


The first SUV from SAIC Group’s wholly owned brand Roewe was launched on Aug 8. With prices ranging from 171.800 to 298.800 yuan (26.900 – 46.900USD), the model will compete in the mid-priced and premium SUV markets that are today dominated by foreign brands.
The Roewe W5 has two engine options – a 1.8-liter Kavachi turbocharged engine that can offer peak power of 118kW and maximum torque of 215Nm - and the 3.2-liter Tornado XGI that has maximum output of 162kW and top torque of 310Nm. It is available with five-speed manual, five-speed automatic or six-speed automatic transmission.
Its length, width, and height are 4676mm, 1888mm and 1765mm and it has a 2740mm wheelbase.
