FIRST MADE-IN-MALAYSIA MITSUBISHI

The first locally assembled Mitsubishi ASX officially rolled off the line at the Segambut plant of Tan Chong Motor Assemblies Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur today.

The 2014 ASX is the first Mitsubishi vehicle to be assembled in Malaysia. The move to assemble in this country is in line with Mitsubishi Motors Corporation's “New Stage 2016" business strategy focuses mainly on strengthening MMC's operating base in the ASEAN region. Local production and sales of the ASX in Malaysia will be one of key tactics in the implementation of this crucial strategy. The initial production volume of 2014 ASX mid-size SUV is 5,000 units per annum, exclusively for domestic sales.

MITSUBISHI ASX TO BE LOCALLY ASSEMBLED

Mitsubishi today announced the ASX compact SUV will be locally assembled in Malaysia.

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) and its exclusive local distributor, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) contracted Tan Chong Motor Assemblies Sdn. Bhd. to assemble the ASX. Production is slated to start in January 2014; then sale is planned to begin soon after in February.

MITSUBISHI TO PRODUCE ASX IN BRAZIL

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation started the production of the ASX compact SUV at a factory in Catalão, Brazil through its exclusive distributor and assembler MMC Automotores do Brasil Ltda.

MMC first commenced production through MMCB in September 1998, and have been producing three SUV models (Pajero TR4, L200 Triton, Pajero Dakar) in the recent years. The ASX is a global strategic vehicle and a core model for MMC which its production started first in Japan, then the United States, Indonesia, and China prior to Brazil.
