ROCK & ROLL AT RFC MALAYSIA

Even though the “mother event” grand final Rainforest Challenge (RFC) has always been held in Malaysia at end of the year; but there has never been an edition in home country for national aspirants vying for a place in the final, until June this year. Thus, on 21-25 June, RFC Malaysia Trophy made its debut in state of Negeri Sembilan.

The state government of Negeri Sembilan will be hosting the mother event RFC this coming 29 Nov – 8 Dec and thus, used this event as a warming up preparation for the grand finale. It was rock and roll time at the launch of D-Day of 21 June at Kuala Klawang (Jelebu district) with a massive display of the ground forces from 460 4x4s which was then escorted by the Royal Malaysian Police to the Prologue Special Stages (SS) held at IJM Land next to Mydin Mall at Seremban2 township for two days of off-road action followed by another three days of jungle stages.

LOCAL PRODUCTION OF MAZDA CX-5 BEGAN IN MALAYSIA

Mass production of the Mazda CX-5 for Malaysia and Thailand started today at the Mazda-exclusive vehicle assembly facility of Inokom Corporation, located in Kulim, Kedah.

Mazda began local production of the Mazda3 (Mazda Axela in Japan) on a consignment basis with Inokom in January 2011. Since March 2013, the Mazda CX-5 has been produced at a Mazda-exclusive body shop constructed as one of the measures to reinforce the local production framework. This body shop, and the vehicle assembly facility which began operating today, are the result of an approximately 100 million ringgit (approx. 30,5 million USD) investment by Mazda Malaysia, a company that oversees the production and sales of Mazda vehicles in Malaysia. Total annual production capacity of both facilities is approximately 20,000 units.

The soggy, muddy, slippery and treacherous terrain in the vicinity of the Isonzo River has the reputation of testing man and machine to the limit and beyond through the ages. Only the special warrior breed would be able to take their machines to rise above such punishing terrain.

The venue chosen was appropriate enough; former war zones from the Isonzo Front where a series of 12 battles were fought between the Austro-Hungarian and Italian armies during World War I. Further back into history, this northern part of Italy was also the conduit through which the Romans made military excursions and connections with the exotic world of Byzantium and the Orient as well as being a reverse conduit for the invasion of Rome. Truly, hard-fought battles took place in this region of flood prone riverbanks through the centuries in this flood prone riverbanks.
