THE NEXT COUPÉ

The SUV world of Mercedes-Benz has room for further models, such as a production version of the Concept GLC Coupé, premiered at Shanghai Auto Show.
The Concept GLC Coupé is a near-production-standard study that carries the successful GLE Coupé formula over into a more compact segment, as demonstrated by the external length of 4.73-metres and the 2.83-metre wheelbase. These two dimensions, together with the striking and muscular main body section, elongated greenhouse and large 21-inch wheels, provide an ideal basis for the typical sportily youthful coupé generation with the characteristic off-road touch.

LASER-GUIDED MERCEDES

Mercedes will be showing a compact premium-class SUV at the Shanghai Auto Show in the form of its Concept GLA.

The Concept GLA combines dynamic styling with clear benefits for recreational use. Under the bonnet of this new concept vehicle (length/width/height: 4383/1978/1579 millimetres) sits a four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine rated at 155 kW (211 hp) with a displacement of 1991 cc. Its power is transmitted to the road via the 7G-DCT dual clutch automatic transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel drive.

INTERNATIONAL DEBUT FOR CHEROKEE

Following close behind its world premiere in New York last month, the Jeep Cherokee has its international debut at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show on April 20.

China is the largest market for the Jeep brand outside of the U.S., and one out of every five vehicles in the mid-size SUV segment is sold in China. Hence, it just makes sense that the new Jeep Cherokee has its international debut in Shanghai. The Jeep Cherokee, which will be known in China as Zi You Guang, will arrive in volume to dealer showrooms in the China market by the end of 2013.
