JEEP UNVEIL SEVEN CONCEPT VEHICLES BUILT FOR 50TH ANNUAL EASTER JEEP SAFARI

Seven new, ultra-capable Jeep concept vehicles will conquer the famous and challenging trails of Moab, Utah, at Easter Jeep Safari, 19-27 March. Thousands of off-road enthusiasts are expected to descend upon Moab this year to celebrate what will likely be the most popular Jeep Safari ever, as the 50th annual event coincides with the 75th anniversary of the Jeep brand.

The seven new Jeep concept vehicles built for Moab this year were created by a team of dedicated, passionate engineers, designers and fabricators that have been customizing production vehicles since 2002, and have introduced more than 50 concept vehicles for the enthusiasts who attend the popular Easter Jeep Safari.

HEAVY METAL BY JEEP

The Renegade Hard Steel Jeep showcar, created in collaboration with Mopar, will be making its debut and the 2015 Geneva International Motor Show.

Based on the Trailhawk - the off-road version of the Renegade range - the prototype is attained with a Brushed Steel livery, a bodywork treatment that evokes cutting-edge aviation and marine technology. All enhanced by a matte black colour contrast used for many of the features such as the grid, roof bars, mirror covers, 16” alloy wheels, side rubbing strips, bonnet air vents, fenders and bumpers.

CHINA-TAILORED JEEP CONCEPTS

The Jeep introduced four new design concepts at the 2014 Beijing International Motor Show. The quartet takes Jeep production models and injects them with fresh elements inspired by millennia of Chinese culture and the sense of style, fashion and flash-forward trends found in megacities such as Shanghai and Beijing.  

The four design concepts include two interpretations of the all-new Jeep Cherokee – the Sageland and Urbane – a premium, luxury version of the iconic Jeep Wrangler called the Jeep Wrangler Sundancer, and the Zi You Xia, a special design concept based on the all-new 2015 Jeep Renegade.

THE METTLE TEST IN THE DESERT

Mopar will be testing its mettle in the southern California desert at the 2014 Griffin King of The Hammers, an event built around what many consider the toughest one-day off-road race in the world that combines desert racing and rock crawling.

Mopar’s GEN III 5.7 liter HEMI crate engine will power the six vehicles competing in a newly created spec class in which each entry is outfitted with the same equipment. These unique “4700 Spec Class” 4x4 vehicles have a custom tube frame design based loosely on a Jeep Wrangler, and are outfitted with Mopar’s HEMI crate engine and some of the best industry-leading parts the off-road world has to offer.

Behind the wheel of one of those Mopar-powered 4700 Spec Class 4x4 vehicle, #4701, will be Eric Bothwell, from Tuckahoe, New York. His co-driver is Robb Pritchard, an international off-road journalist, who regularly contributes to our 4x4 Magazine too.

JEEP WITH 9-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

The all-new Jeep Cherokee, launched in the United States in 2013, is making its European debut at the 84th Geneva International Motor Show on March 4, 2014. Also making its debut in the new Jeep Cherokee, is the new 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine, combined with the new nine-speed automatic transmission.

This is the first time in Europe that this powertrain combination – the efficient 2.0-liter Multijet II turbo diesel and the new nine-speed automatic gearbox - has been offered in the mid-size SUV segment.

HISTORIC JEEP LINE

Omix-ADA displayed several wartime Jeeps - including three early prototypes - at this year’s SEMA show.

The collection includes a variety of historically significant Jeeps, chronicling the brand’s history from pre-WWII prototypes through an amphibious Jeep to the modern day Wrangler JK. The three prototypes being brought to this year’s SEMA show include a Ford GP, a Bantam BRC40 and a Willys MA, all from 1941, as part of its celebration of Jeep military history.
